Operative Nursing

Care of patients before, during, and after surgical procedures is the responsibility of operational nursing, commonly referred to as perioperative nursing. Operative nurses work with the surgical team, which includes the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and other medical experts, to provide patients undergoing surgery with high-quality, secure care.

Operative nurses are in charge of setting up the operating room, sterilising tools and equipment, making sure all necessary supplies are on hand, and keeping an eye on the patient's vital signs while the surgery is being performed. The patient and their family may also receive emotional support from them while they help with other tasks like situating the patient on the operating table, giving drugs, and preparing the patient for surgery.
